This weekend could not get any better. Yesterday, I flew to Minneapolis, Minnesota for an undergraduate conference at St. Thomas. I was presenting a paper on the portrayal of homosexuality in advertising versus the portrayal of heterosexuality in advertising. It was nice because I got my own hotel room and flew by myself. The hotel room was sooooo nice. So I went to this conference, presented my paper, and then listened to some other presentations. The salmon at lunch was super yummy. Then, then had this drawing for an iPod touch, and guess what? I WON! Now I'm just chilling in the lobby, waiting for my bus to come pick me up in an hour.
But you guys aren't here for that. You are hear to know about Washington, D.C. So waiting for my flight to Minneapolis, I was checking my email. This lady from a house rep's office replied to me, I got the email...
"Please accept my apologies for not responding to your email more promptly. After reviewing your application, I am pleased to offer you an internship with our office. Please let me know if you accept the position."
I didn't even have an interview with them. Just sent in my email and a cover letter. But I'm not complaining. The funny thing is this house rep isn't even from my state, but I am soo happy!! I wanted an internship with a House of Representatives/ Senate member of Congress, and I got one!
Prior to this, I had an interview with the DNC, and Office of Presidential Correspondence. I also was supposed to have an interview with another house rep, but they never got back to me. So, with 50 days left till I am officially in Washington, D.C, I, have an internship with a member of congress :)
